On the Hunt

I love to photograph sporting dogs. They are so active and full of joy. And of all the dogs, I think they may have the most fun on the shoot because they can run and play all they want- plus they get a lot of treats and praise. Pretty much the perfect scenario for your typical sporting dog 🙂

So…. needless to say…. we did have some good times  with McQueen and Cody.

This is McQueen. He’s actually a former champion show dog. But even though he has not hunted, he truly has the hunting instinct of his breed, the German Shorthaired Pointer. You should have seen him with the buzzards flying overhead- he didn’t know what to do with those big birds- he was mesmerized!

I can usually tire out any dog within about 20 minutes, but McQueen may hold my record for length of time in complete activity! He probably ran, I don’t know, the equivalent of 10 miles?

This guy knows how to have fun- he is a happy, happy dog!

Cody is the same breed as McQueen but is just a little more subdued.  She’s a lovely, wise older dog. Gorgeous, isn’t she?

I love the dogs in sepia- I think it just makes the photograph feel like autumn! And they’re coloring is so beautiful.

Both of these dogs are truly devoted to their human. And they really enjoyed the quality time with him- chasing sticks, and balls, and posing for treats!

Pretty much the perfect morning to kick off an extraordinary fall day.
